DLA serves as the prayer hub of the Desperation movement. We call DLA a fellowship of burning hearts because our goal is to be a community of young people that challenge one another to live in passionate pursuit of Christ. We exist to equip young people to become leaders based on a place of close intimacy with God and to be a part of shaping local church youth movements to rise up in desperate pursuit of Jesus.

LEADING a generation in Desperate pursuit of God.

The Desperation Vow is a commitment to God. It is not a formalization that you will never fall short of these convictions, but a personal resolution to pursue them. DLA students commit to these core convictions:

God visits desperate people. The desperate ones are those that have tasted of God and long for more of Him and His purpose. God reveals Himself to people that ache, pray and fast. He draws near to those that draw near to Him. In view of that, I vow to daily carve out a regular time to be with God to read my Bible and pray.

Jesus commands me to continue His mission by taking the gospel to all people. The destiny of every person matters to Jesus. This year, I vow to focus my time, energy and resources to win one person to Jesus.

God wants me to be holy. He is holy and perfect. My choices matter to God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, I choose to bend my life around God so that my daily choices reflect Him. In view of that, I vow to fast something one day per week. This fast will serve as a living reminder to forgo earthly things and to feed upon God.

God delights in my prayers. Every prayer matters to Him. My prayers draw me closer to God and advance the kingdom of God. It is my conviction that God wants His sons and daughters to always pray and not give up. In view of that, I vow to participate in a corporate prayer meeting every week.

The Pledge is a set of practical guidelines we commit to as a symbol of consecration for this season, and in order to live life well together. Our primary life purpose and identity is found in seeking to fully love and obey Jesus. Our life choices are a real part of the Father's plan to reward and honor His Son. We desire to be a community that values and honors the call to purity, as we desire to live in a way that is worthy of His sufferings (Matt.22:37-28; Eph 1:17-18). Therefore, part of this commitment involves no dating for each student's first year in the academy with a focus of devoting one's heart fully to the Lord and developing a deep intimacy with Him before pursuing any kind of dating relationship. Pre-existing relationships will be evaluated and approved by the staff. This also involves keeping one's total being under subjection by abstaining from any alcoholic beverages and use of tobacco.
